  • Jan 31 — W-2 and 1099 forms due to recipients
  • Mar 16 — Partnership and S-corp returns (Form 1065 / 1120-S)
  • Apr 15 — Individual returns and Q1 estimated payments
  • Jun 15, Sep 15, Jan 15 — Remaining quarterly estimates

What to bring to your appointment

  • Photo ID and Social Security numbers for everyone on the return
  • W-2s, 1099s, K-1s and mortgage interest statements
  • Prior-year tax return
  • Business income and expense summary, or QuickBooks access
  • Bank details for direct deposit

Small-business habits that save tax

  • Keep business and personal bank accounts fully separate
  • Reconcile books monthly instead of once a year
  • Log mileage as you drive, not from memory in April
  • Review owner compensation before year-end, not after
  • Set aside estimated taxes with every deposit
